Following a tough loss at the hands of the Calgary Flames on Monday, the Toronto Maple Leafs will have a new look on Thursday when they take on the Dallas Stars.
Defencemen Travis Dermott and Justin Holl will make their way into the lineup, according to Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston.
As a result, Martin Marincin and Igor Ozhiganov will be scratches on Thursday.
Dermott was ruled out of last week’s game in Winnipeg due to an illness. He was available to play against the Jets in Toronto on Saturday, but was scratched in favour of Marincin. He sat out again on Monday despite being healthy.
Through nine contests, the 21-year-old has only managed a single point.
The pair made waves last season in Holl’s first NHL game. Dermott, who was already on the Leafs for eight games, finally managed to pot his first NHL goal against the New York Islanders.
Holl wouldn’t be outdone by his former Marlies running mate, however. He’d score his first career NHL goal later in the game, with an assist from Dermott.
Holl has been good for a goal a game in his career – he also scored in his other NHL game last season. Dermott finished with 18 points in 28 games in 2017-18. Both will be looking to help the Leafs in the offensive zone and more importantly, in their own end – where they’ve had trouble at times breaking the puck out.
Holl and Dermott will play together on the Leafs’ bottom pairing against the Stars.
